I’m so excited to have one of my favorite bloggers, Erin from Sixth Bloom guest posting on the blog today! She is an amazing photographer and her blog is one of my favorites for all things photography! I hope you enjoy her awesome tips that she has for you on fashion photography! And now, here’s Erin:
Today I’d love to share with you 6 pictures I take every time I shoot an outfit for fashion. These pictures ensure that I have captured the outfit in it’s entirety and not leaving anything out!
My biggest tip….
Is to always start with the “big picture” and work myself in to the details. If you can remember this you’ll not forget a thing when it comes to the 6 pictures I’ll demonstrate below.
Picture 1 Full Body– I like to get a full body pose with some of the surroundings of our location. This gives a full sense of the outfit and style.
Picture 2 Full Body in Action– I like to get some action. Whether it’s my model walking, looking to the side or behind her, jumping, skipping, or running the movement creates a strong image that’s real and inviting to the viewer.
Picture 3 Three-Quarter Body Shot– I like to begin to get in closer to the model and begin to get more of the feel of the textures for the outfit. Almost creating a head shot with the fashion model.
Picture 4 Details– The details are oh-so important. I think we could all agree that this is half of what makes up a great outfit and sometimes the most thought out part of our outfit. Whether it’s the watch/bracelet or necklace, be sure to capture the details.
Picture 5 Head to Toe– Don’t forget about the earrings or hairpiece much less the adorable shoes.
Picture 6 Accessories– Whether it’s a handbag, scarf, jacket/blazer or extra jewelry set the accessories on something besides the model. Setting this aside can change up your photos to not always be “on” someone.
