Hey ya’ll! I’m Lauren and I’m the owner of Lauren Virginia Co and Lauren Virginia Beauty! My journey started with this blog in 2014 and my beauty company was born in 2016! I love sharing what I find fun in life here on my little space in the internet! You will find posts and tutorials on fashion, beauty, and home decor as I share my journey raising my kids in Dallas, TX. Learn more about what makes me tick below!
…
Since becoming a mother, I have gone through an identity crisis of sorts. Was I supposed to give up all of my previous passions and give my whole self over to raising children? Or was there a way for me to feel fulfilled while helping mold the future generation. These sort of questions took years of struggling in my own mind on what I was supposed to do with my life, who I was, and what I wanted. I think a lot of women go through this sort of thing as well.
I had a great career in the medical field and I had a thriving blog and social media business, but I still felt like something was missing in my life. I also was struggling with depression and anxiety as I raised my kids, tried to keep up at home, run my business, and make it look like to the world that I was a super mom. It wasn’t until my little brother died from suicide and then my little sister died 5 months later from an asthma attack that I realized that I was focusing on all the wrong things. It’s funny how huge, life-altering events can open your eyes to what you are doing right and wrong.
I realized that I was trying WAY too hard to impress others, and make it look like I was something that I wasn’t. I was focusing on creating the perfect life, instead of just living in it and enjoying it. I wasn’t passionate about what I was doing, and this effected my relationships with my husband, kids, and extended family. I decided to let everything go and just be me. I let it be ok that I was a #hotmessmom and that my home and life were messy, but fun. I let it be ok that I had days where I got dressed in cute (but practical clothing), put on makeup and slayed, but then the next day I could barely get out of bed and function. I wanted the world to see that that is ok, and those are the kinds of things we should talk about on social media!
I started a new beauty business in 2016 that focuses on teaching women how to look and feel beautiful, and to be able to create that definition themselves. I use products that are worry free, and help women feel their very best, even when they are barely holding it together. I share skincare tips to help women feel beautiful, even without makeup! I love sharing these things and showing everyone it doesn’t matter what if you are always put together…all that matters is that YOU are happy!
I also have a HUGE passion for helping other women start careers at home that they are proud of. They are able to be at home raising their kids, while also having a passion for what THEY love too! This is in my opinion, the ultimate package to happiness for women, and being able to share that is amazing!
Come join me on my journey as I talk about being a God-driven momtrepeneur who is an active mental illness fighter, and believes that even though your life might look like chaotic, you can be happy and thrive! Hang out as I show you that a little hard work can get you anything you want in life, and that it’s ok if the journey is messy along the way!
