Makeup Brushes 101- A Master Guide to Every Brush I Love

Beauty, Favorites, Makeup Tutorials, Reviews

Check out my makeup brushes guide! I talk about the perfect makeup brushes for any makeup lover, which brushes are good for specific makeup techniques, which sets are best, and which are your most affordable options!

Hey ya’ll!

I often get the question of what makeup brushes I use, and because I get that question so often, I thought I’d make an entire post dedicated towards my favorite makeup brushes and their uses! I’m a big fan of finding the best brushes on a budget, so most of my brushes are not expensive! I have been collecting and using brushes for years, and I’m so excited to be sharing my absolute favorites and how long I’ve had them! I’ve broken the brush list down to Face Brushes and Eye Brushes, and then within the description of each brush, I’ve listed what part of the face you can use it for! If you are interested in learning all about makeup brushes, check out my handy list below!

PS: All of the Brushes have links where you can buy them! I’ve made it very easy for you to find these brushes!

Face Brushes:

Morphe M439:: This is one of my go-to foundation brushes because of the dense, dome shape! This brush blends REALLY well and leaves a flawless finish! The dense bristles allow you to apply your foundation for a full-coverage look. Used for Foundation.

Sigma F82: This round Kabuki brush (dense brush) is a smaller version of the M433 and works amazingly well! I love this for foundation when my M433 is dirty! Used for Foundation and cream bronzing.

Morphe M444: This brush is very dense and precise, which makes it amazing for contouring and blending blush! Used for contour and blush.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge: I’m obsessed with this beauty sponge! Grab this sponge, wet it in the sink, and then squeeze out the excess water for a great tool in blending! I love using this for my favorite cream products from Senegence! Used for all face products.

Original Beauty Blender: This is one of my tried and true makeup sponges! The shape and material is perfect for everything! Used for all face products!

Sephora Pro Flawless Airbrush: This brush is amazing for foundation, blush, and bronzer! I love the small, compact shape! It makes it perfect for getting into the smaller areas of your face. The bristles are also a semi-dense weight, so this brush gives you a medium coverage without streaks! Can be used for all face products.

Sephora Pro Foundation Brush: This flat brush mimics the finger when applying, and gives a smooth finish. The bristles provide a medium coverage and leaves your face streak-less! Use for cream or liquid foundations.

Sigma F86 Tapered Kabuki Brush: I LOVE using this brush for concealer! It really blends beautifully and is the perfect shape for under the eyes. You can also use this brush for cream bronzer and blush!

Morphe M527: This large fluffy brush is perfect for translucent powder for all over the face! The size gets the job done quickly and flawlessly. Used for lose powder or powder foundation.

Sigma F88 Flat Angled Kabuki: This is my go-to for getting a great contour! The angle of the brush hits your cheek bones perfectly and keeps the product in the right spot. Used for cream bronzer products.

Morphe M523: This soft, fluffy brush is perfect for contour, highlight and brush. The fluffy natural hairs allow for the perfect looks using powder products. Can be used for powder bronzer, blush, highlight and loose powder.

Sigma F35: This brush is perfect for applying powder highlighter! It’s the perfect size and shape to keep your highlight in a precise place on your cheekbones!

Eye Brushes:

Morphe M433: This is my go-to shadow brush for cream shadows and powder shadows! This brush blends out colors like a dream! I own about 10 because I can’t ever be without it! Used for cream or powder shadows or precision work for translucent powder.

Morphe M432: This flat, dense brush is perfect for blending shadows on your lower lash line to finish your eye look! Can also be used for a smoked out liner for your upper lash line.

Sigma E34 Domed Brush: This dense, dome shaped brush is amazing to use for cream shadows! I love using this with my beloved ShadowSense and any other cream product. The dense bristles help blend out cream products with ease! Can be used with cream shadows and concealers.

Sigma E37: This domed shape brush is a little less dense than the E34 and allows for an airbrushed finish when using cream shadows. You can also use this for cream concealers.

Sigma E60: This flat, dense brush is perfect for packing on shadows to your lid. Use this with shimmer, glitter, and cream shadows for intense color and sparkle.

Sigma E62: This cut crease brush is my OBSESSION!!! I love using this for my lids because it is the perfect angle when working with any eye shape. Use this to pack on shadows to your lid and keep a tight line by your blended crease. Use with cream products.

Sigma E65: This angled, dense brush is perfect for eyeliner! The angle allows you to perfectly create a cat eye, or just tightly line your upper lash line. Use with cream shadows or cream liners.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brush #12: This is the PERFECT brow brush! The size and angle of the brush fits perfectly in any brow, and the spooly is the perfect size for blending out your brow product. Use this for powder or cream brow products.

Other Products I use with my brushes:

Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner: This stuff is a GAME CHANGER! I used to spend hours washing all of my brushes with soap/water and then waiting a whole day for them to dry. This cleaning liquid cleanses and sanitizes your brushes, and also allows them to dry very quickly! I’m done with the whole wash/dry process in an HOUR!!!

Beauty Cleanser: This soap is what I use for cleaning my beauty sponges! Just a quick swipe gets enough soap to thoroughly clean them!

Sephora Color Switch: Ok ya’ll…this has changed the game for me. The color switch allows you to switch colors on your brush without having to grab a brand new brush for blending. Simply rub your brush filled with color on the sponge, and in a few seconds, all the product is removed. You can now use that same brush to blend a totally different color on your lid!

Sephora Daily Makeup Brush Cleanser: This is what I use to cleanse my brushes in between clients. It disinfects and removes all color, so I can quickly switch to another face without needing to dirty a whole new set of brushes!

I hope you all enjoyed this details list of brushes I LOVE! Stay tuned for part two where I break it down even further and explain what brushes you should grab based on your level of makeup commitment! And also stay tuned for Part 3 where I do a video tutorial on how to use my go-to brushes! If you are loving this series, please share this post with friends and family! I would love the support!
