Today I wanted to share with you all my go-to hairstyle that is perfect for any occasion. There are so many techniques when it comes to curling your hair, but this is one of my favorites because 1. it’s super easy 2. it’s fast and 3. it lasts a long time! And when I want a little extra vavavoom, I add my Bellami Hair Extensions to the mix. This is the perfect way to get gorgeous volume and length without ruining your hair. Plus, when it’s hot outside (like it is in Texas) I can opt out of wearing all that hair to keep from sweating up a storm. And just a little side note before we get started: It is always better to clip in your extensions first and curl your hair all together. My extensions are already curled, and the curl is still looking really nice, so help the hair last longer, I am opting out of putting heat on it today. Curling your hair and then adding your extensions still allows you to blend, but in my opinion it doesn’t look as great.
Here are the steps to gorgeous curls:
This is what my hair looks like after I let it air dry. It dries pretty straight, with just a little wave to it (and a lot of frizz). As you can see, my hair is already pretty long and thick. I get a lot of questions about why I even wear extensions. I really don’t need hair extensions in my everyday life. I know a lot of people get them because they have very thin hair, or they are having a hard time growing their hair long. I love clip-ins because it gives me that much more volume and length and allows me to just feel like a hair goddess! Another plus-side to investing in extensions is that you can add volume and length for the beautiful, long braids that are in style now. I love having long braids, but with my regular hair, the braid still comes out looking short. Adding extensions allows me to keep the braid long and beautiful!
My next step is using my handy 1 inch curling wand. I don’t actually know what these are called, but basically it is just a really hot rod that you twist your hair around. You can definitely use a curling iron instead, but I find that this is quicker because it’s really hot (it curls my hair so much faster than my actual curling irons). Side note: because this gets really, really hot you should definitely wear a heat protecting glove to avoid burning your hands, and you should only hold your hair around the curling wand for a couple of seconds. Remember the youtube video that went viral of that girl that burned her hair right off her head with her curling iron….ya that will happen to you if you aren’t careful!
I hold the curling wand at a 45 degree angle facing downward, and I twist my hair around it away from my face. I find that curling away from your face will frame your features a lot better. I leave the curls alone until my whole head is curled because this allows the curls to set and stay longer. You’ll end up looking like Shirley Temple when you’re finished, but we will soon change that! If you really want your curls to stay a long time, roll them up and pin them to your head as your curl.
Now with your fingers pick apart these curls so they separate. This gives a little bit more of a beachy, messy look. You can separate them as little or as much as you want, it’s up to you! I separate mine a lot because I really like a nice, tousled curl.
Now with a comb, tease the curls a little bit to add volume. I tease my regular hair just a little bit, and then when I have my extensions in I tease even more to add volume and to help blend. This really helps separate these curls and make your hair extremely voluminous!
Right before I clip in my extensions I run my fingers through my hair one more time to further separate those curls!
This is the finished product! I love this look without extensions, so feel free to just stop right here! That was super easy huh!?
Now I take my Bellami hair extensions and run my fingers (or a brush) through them to get rid of any tangles. This helps them blend a lot easier.
Isn’t this hair beautiful!? It is so thick (for top to bottom!) which is PERFECT for my thick hair!
Now I clip them into my hair. I had them cut by my hairstylist so they blend perfectly with my hair. I have them numbered so I remember which weft goes where. If you would like me to do a how-to video on clipping in extensions, comment below! I’d be happy to show you all the step-by-step!
When I have my extensions clipped in, I take my curling wand and do a little bit of touch-up on my real hair and extensions to help them blend. I then do a little teasing and I’m done! This look only takes me about 10 minutes tops, which is perfect for any busy woman!
