DIY Winter Wreath

DIY, Favorites, LifeStyle

Making DIY wreaths is easy and fun! Check out how I easily arranged a new wreath for our home for only $20!

Hey all! Today I am sharing another DIY project that I’m SO excited about! I LOVE to craft, and I try to craft every spare second I get! I decided this year that I wanted to update my winter door wreath. I have a Christmas wreath, and a regular cotton ball wreath for year round. But I felt like I needed something fun for the winter months (before my spring décor hit). I came up with this concept of using florals that I love to create a fun and different holiday/winter style wreath!

PS: It’s super easy to make too!

What you’ll need:

  1. Some kind of circle to build the wreath on. I decided to buy a simple twig wreath. You can use something fun like thick floral wire or even a embroidering ring!
  2. Floral and fillers of your choice! I grabbed my floral pieces from Hobby Lobby and Amazon
  3. Wire cutters (trust me…regular scissors won’t cut it)
  4. Hot glue gun + glue

Creating a wreath is a very simple task. The first step is to pick out florals you’d like to bunch together! Head to Pinterest and Google for inspiration! I decided to use red berries and fir tree greenery, and white peonies as the main flowers! Once you’ve purchased your materials and your faux floral, it’s time to arrange and group the flowers how you’d like them. This is where you decide if your main flowers will be glued down and where your fillers will go.

Next it’s time to cut! Most faux floral comes in bunches. Take your wire cutters and cut the pieces you need to the length you need! Usually you don’t need a long stem to glue down, so there really isn’t any way to cut the stems too short! I also really love using a twig wreath to build upon because you can stick branches, flowers, etc inside to arrange them! Easy Peasy!

Next it’s time to glue it down! You can use either hot glue or super glue! I go with hot glue because it lasts a long time AND it’s more forgivable. You can pull up pieces if you end up not liking where they are on the wreath. Start with the filler pieces and blend them together around the wreath. Place the main floral on top so it pops!

You can continue to glue small pieces around to fill in any gaps as well. Also, don’t forget to hang up your wreath and see if it looks good from far away!

Continue to mess with your arrangement until you like the way it looks! Don’t be afraid to try something different either! I love how putting the main flowers on the side of the wreath turned out, as opposed to the bottom or the top of the wreath.
